Those who are nostalgic for another Bush in the White House should take the time to read documented facts about this family.  Research the troubling information  which includes Prescott Bush serving as the national treasurer for Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger in 1947, his ties to the Fascist Coup which included attempting to enlist Gen. Smedley Butler to overthrow the presidency, and Bush 41’s grandparents on both sides participating in racial hygiene (aka Eugenics Societies). While he was president, George H.W. “Prescott Bush and the Nazis: Union Banking Corporation

Prescott Bush, later U.S. Senator and George W. Bush’s grandfather, was a director of Union Banking Corporation, which in October 1942 was seized by the Office of Alien Property acting “under the authority of the Trading with the Enemy Act, as amended, and by Executive Order 9095, as amended.”  This has been the basis of charges on the internet and elsewhere that Prescott Bush had been engaged in illegal, perhaps even treasonous, relations with the Nazis.  These charges are based on a misunderstanding of a sequence of events.  Prescott Bush’s relationship with Union Banking was legally beyond reproach, though its duration into the late 1930s raises ethical questions.

The Wall Street firm Brown Brothers Harriman, of which Prescott Bush was a partner, was linked to the rise of the Nazi regime through Fritz Thyssen, a German industrialist known to be a supporter of Hitler before Hitler became chancellor of Germany in January 1933.  United Banking Corporation was founded in 1924 to manage Thyssen’s U. S. investments.  Several Brown Brothers Harriman partners, including Prescott Bush, served as directors of Union Banking. In March 1933 Hitler became dictator of Germany; in July of that year, he appointed Fritz Thyssen economic “czar” of the industrial Rheinland-Westphalia region.  Thyssen finally broke with Hitler in December 1939, after Hitler had begun World War II in Europe.

Although Hitler’s promulgation of the Nuremburg Laws in 1935 and subsequent anti-Jewish measures taken by the German government did not cause Prescott Bush and his fellow Brown Brothers Harriman partners to disengage from Union Banking, the directors found themselves in an embarrassing position with the outbreak of a war in which the U. S. might become involved.  Union Banking had been established as a subsidiary of a Dutch bank controlled by Thyssen’s family.  When the Netherlands surrendered to the Germans in May 1940, the U. S. government froze all Dutch assets in the United States, including Union Banking’s assets, to protect them from the Nazis.

Despite their best efforts to extricate themselves, Prescott and his associates carried on as directors of Union Banking, operating under the supervision of the Treasury Dept., and a front page story in the New York Herald Tribune on July 31, 1941 publicized their connection with Union Banking.  In November 1941 the U. S. government reclassified Union Banking as a German-owned business.  Following U.S. entry into the war after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Franklin Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9095 which established the Office of Alien Property and empowered the Alien Property Custodian to confiscate businesses owned by enemy nationals, a category that included Union Banking.”

At that time, contraception was against the law in Connecticut, and the state had a large Catholic constituency. The Guardian obtained confirmation files discovered in the U.S. National Archives in 2004 that a firm of which Prescott Bush was a director was involved with the financial architects of Nazism. His business dealings, which continued until his company’s assets were seized in 1942 under the Trading with the Enemy Act, led to legal action by the family of a slave laborer from Auschwitz.

The evidence has also prompted one former US Nazi war crimes prosecutor to argue that Prescott Bush’s action should have been grounds for prosecution, for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. The case was reviewed by Ben Aris and Duncan Campbell of The Guardian Washington Bureau, in an article titled, “How Bush’s [George W. and Jeb’s] grandfather helped Hitler’s Rise to Power,” on Sept. 25, 2004.

Jeb Bush is also a founding member of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC) established in 1997, with war hawks including Dick Cheney, who has defended torture for which the Japanese were convicted of war crimes after World War II.”

The  Rockefeller Foundation created the National Education Association in order to brainwash the schoolchildren of America over a course of generations. One of their greatest accomplishments was the lesson plan that Franklin Delano Roosevelt saved this country with his New Deal program. FDR must have been a Communist. Consider what FDR told Rep. Martin Dies in 1940:

While I do not believe in Communism, Russia is far better off and the world is safer with Russia under Communism than under the Czars. Stalin is a great leader, and although I deplore some of his methods, it is the only way he can safeguard his government.

His protestation of a lack of belief in Communism is completely belied by his words here and in many, many ways by his actions.

BALDWIN AND ELEANOR ROOSEVELT
“Baldwin joined the American Union Against Militarism (A.U.A.M), an anti-war organization located in New York, at a time when Congress was punishing dissenters for exercising their rights to question or oppose the government’s wartime policies. This restriction on free speech enraged Baldwin and his A.U.A.M. allies, who were working to become more organized and unified. Baldwin applied for Conscientious Objector status but his application was denied, and he was sentenced to one year in prison for refusing to enlist. The FBI was responsible for Baldwin’s arrest, and before incarcerating him they asked him to organize the Bureau’s civil liberties files, which were in disarray. This gave Baldwin a chance to charm the Bureau and while he still was required to carry out his prison sentence, the FBI later gave him a Christmas gift with the engraving, “To the only criminal we have ever loved.”

After his release from prison, Baldwin brought together an extraordinary group of individuals – Albert DeSiver, Walter Nelles, Crystal Eastman, Clarence Darrow, Norman Thomas, Helen Keller, Jane Adams, Oscar Garrison Villard, and Felix Frankfurter – with whom he founded the American Civil Liberties Union. This organization, dedicated to protecting the freedoms granted to American citizens by the Bill of Rights and Constitution, brought litigation against local, state and federal agencies in order to test the constitutionality of laws that seemed to restrict a citizen’s civil liberties. According to Jerome J. Shestack, Baldwin “defended just about everybody – brown shirts and reds, hard hats and eggheads, rabble-rousers and nudists, free-thinkers and conservatives, books from Uncle Tom’s Cabin to Ulysses, and pamphleteers galore. No current expediency, no popular tide ever made him cower or diverted him from the defense of liberties.” When questioned about the fact that his “clients” were of all political persuasions and backgrounds, Baldwin responded, “I always felt from the beginning that you had to defend people you dislike and feared as well as those you admired.”

ACLU: ‘Communism is the Goal’

“There is perhaps no greater example of ironic doublespeak than inclusion of the phrase “civil liberties” within the inapt designation: “American Civil Liberties Union.”
